Maternity session at the beach ends with a soaked photographer

“You’d do anything for pictures!” she said as I dipped my bum into the water with my waterproof pants submerged knee-deep (I don’t think this is exactly what the manufacturers had intended).

“I am committed to the art,” I replied, realizing that I had been too excited by their toddler jumping the miniature waves to notice my numbing toes in the chilly current.

I scurried up to the shore like a wet crab, checking to see if I had caught this ridiculousness on video. Alas, my phone had sunk into the sand, so a blade of seagrass had its seven minutes of fame before the video got deleted. I suppose my silly adventures are only for my clients to experience, not for the internet to see.

What made this session unique (aside from my butt in the water) was this mama served like she was the creative director of the session. She made my job super easy by sending me a Pinterest board of inspiration beforehand which I could reference to get an idea of her style, and during the session, she directed her husband and toddler what to do between poses so that we could get even more of the candid shots that she wanted.

This is not a requirement by any means. I photograph all kinds of mamas, and I happily cater to all preferences. Some mamas like to be more involved with the planning, while others like to show up and be pampered. Ultimately, my goal is to deliver photos that you love, so no matter what your session vision looks like, know that you are getting the best Fertile Hope experience.

The session was photographed at Pleasure House Point in Virginia Beach, VA. Book your discovery call with Brooke on the contacts page to chat about your dream session!
